The SCULPFUN SF-A9 is a diode laser engraver: its blue laser engraves and cuts wood, plywood, leather, paper, cardboard, fabric and dark or opaque acrylic, and marks coated or painted metal. It cannot cut clear or blue acrylic, which lets blue light through, and bare metal needs far more power or a different laser.

It has a rated laser power of 20 W – 40 W depending on the model, an optical output of 20 W, a work area of 400 × 400 mm (15.7 × 15.7 in) and a top engraving speed of 600 mm/s.

The brand states that it cuts up to 5 mm of wood or plywood; thicker material takes several passes, and results depend on the material and air assist.
