About MakerTrusted
MakerTrusted is the industry platform for desktop fabrication: the laser engravers, laser cutters and 3D printers that makers, small businesses, schools and workshops use, the safety standards they are built to, and the brands that make them.
Why MakerTrusted exists
Desktop lasers and 3D printers have moved from hobbyist kits to everyday tools for side businesses, classrooms and workshops. New machines launch every month, power is stated in ways that cannot be compared, safety features vary from none to fully enclosed, and the same machine is priced differently from one country to the next. Choosing well has never been harder.
MakerTrusted brings it together in one place. Every machine is described on the same figures, with what it can cut, engrave or print, its laser class and safety features, and its official price in each country, so buyers, resellers and educators can decide on facts.
Built on close knowledge of the industry
MakerTrusted follows the desktop fabrication industry as a whole: the laser and 3D printer brands that lead online sales, the manufacturers behind them, the software and materials they work with, and the regulators and standards that govern laser safety. That understanding shapes what we cover, how we compare machines and what we treat as reliable.
The database is tracked and maintained continuously, and each safety rule is checked against its official source.
Our standards
- Genuine machines from their brands. MakerTrusted lists machines their brands sell through official channels, and leaves out materials, modules, spare parts and bundles.
- Comparable specifications. Rated laser power and optical output kept apart; sizes in millimetres with inches alongside.
- Compliance, stated or verified. A laser class or FDA statement the brand makes is shown as stated; one we have matched in official records is shown as verified, with its number and date.
- Independence. Suppliers cannot pay to change facts or rankings.
