What the ACMER P2 can make

The ACMER P2 is a diode laser engraver: its blue laser engraves and cuts wood, plywood, leather, paper, cardboard, fabric and dark or opaque acrylic, and marks coated or painted metal. It cannot cut clear or blue acrylic, which lets blue light through, and bare metal needs far more power or a different laser.

It has a rated laser power of 10 W – 33 W depending on the model and a top engraving speed of 500 mm/s.

Diode laser power is stated in different ways across brands: some quote the laser's optical output, others the power the module draws, which is several times higher. Compare models on their optical output.

The brand states that it cuts up to 30 mm of wood or plywood; thicker material takes several passes, and results depend on the material and air assist.

It works with a camera for positioning designs on the material, air assist for cleaner cuts and LightBurn software.

ACMER P2 safety and compliance

The brand's listing does not state the ACMER P2's laser class. Open-frame diode lasers are usually Class 4: use laser safety glasses rated for the wavelength, and never leave the machine running unattended.

Every laser engraver makes smoke and fumes: run it with an exhaust to the outdoors or a fume purifier. Never cut PVC or vinyl, which release corrosive chlorine gas.

The brand's listing does not state FDA compliance. Laser products sold in the United States must meet the FDA's laser performance standard (21 CFR 1040.10) and be reported to the FDA, which issues an accession number; ask the seller for it before buying in the US.
